Hi. I'm James Jackson, a freelance architecture and editorial photographer based in Washington, DC. Working on location, my commercial work focuses on environmental and editorial portraits, interiors and architecture, and food and beverage. I regularly work with boutique hotels, hotel groups, hotel management companies, and restaurants, and am a frequent contributor to regional lifestyle publications. Left to my own devices my work tends to be emotive and moody, though I pride myself on being somewhat chameleon-like, finding it easy to match an existing client's mood, style, and branding.
My client and personal work have been featured in ELLE, GQ, Bon Appetit, the Washington Post, Travel + Leisure, Forbes, the Guardian, Thrillist, Zagat, and other national and international publications. In March of 2015 the Guardian said I was one of the best urban Instagrammers in the US. In September of 2015 I was invited by the Obama White House to photograph Pope Francis' arrival ceremony. I have an eye for details and quiet moments that many people miss. And I've spent the last three years visually immersed in the burgeoning food and lifestyle scene here in DC, which has now risen to national prominence.
I’m available for DC-regional assignments, as well as on-location assignments worldwide. I’d love to hear from you. Please say hello!
