This afternoon a group of us were invited to the Washington Post for a tour of their photography studio and offices. Oh, and rooftops. There were lots of rooftops.
I spent the day at Glenstone yesterday for the media preview of the new Roni Horn exhibition, which opens today and runs through January 28, 2018. I can't say enough good things about Glenstone, the hospitality of their staff, and Roni Horn's work, itself.
Climate change seriousness aside, I've got Z E R O complaints about a sunny 70º day in the middle of February. Today was basically the perfect day for an Instameet with @IGDC and @VisitWashingtonDC.
2017: the year it finally became acceptable for people of all ages to refer to a part of woman's anatomy as a pussy in polite company and talk about golden showers in public. All because of our President's behavior.
I now know what tear gas canisters sound like. That's not something I'm likely to forget soon. Today was hard.
It was an interesting day, that's for sure. Suffice it to say not many people in town this week are shy about sharing their opinons.
I'll be documenting the inauguration all week long, with frequent blog/photo updates as things progress. I'll also be curating a selection of photos from over a dozen photographers on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for publication on the IGDC website.
This morning a group of us got a behind the scenes preview of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, courtesy of NMAAHC and Instagram.
The 34th annual Smithsonian Craft Show opens to the public Thursday, April 21, at 10:30am, at the National Building Museum. A group of us were invited for a behind the scenes preview on Wednesday. To be honest, I was astounded by the artists and their work. From a pool of 1100 applicants, 121 artisans, including Dale Chihuly, were selected. So put aside whatever comes to mind when you hear the words "craft show" and check this out.
Fashion, food, photos, film. And coffee. Lots of coffee. March was fun!
It wasn't all work! The Chinese New Year parade, a Presidents Day snowstorm, and an IGDC meetup kept me social this month. 👍
