Courtesy of my friend Austin Graff, a group of us were treated to a tour of Small Planes Coffee's roastery last night. Very informative, very delicious, and very fun.
Also very caffeinated. πŸ˜…

Evan Howe's job title is Head Roaster and his knowledge of coffee seems encyclopedic. He selects and purchases the coffee in addition to roasting it so he was able to share with us, in great detail, how coffee gets from the dirt in far away countries to bags in our kitchens here in the District.

After Evan's talk we were treated to a cupping of three different coffees and they sent us home with a bag of their seasonal blend, Arboretum, named so because they're located next to the National Arboretum.
